Apply @ : puclnat@gmail.com or mahipalsinghrh@gmail.com

Contact No. – 01122750014, Mahi Pal Singh, Secretary, PUCL (Cell Phone 09312206414)

Accommodation

Since I’m from Delhi, I did not avail any accommodation but there are lots of PGs just in the walking distance range from the office.

First impression. First day formalities-

The office location of PUCL, Delhi is quite a disappointment. Also for those dressing up in formals to make a great first impression or expecting too much work, well none of the above is required or is going to happen. You will have to help the two clerks with their normal clerical work for the first 4-5 days. Then later you will be assigned either a report submission on any topic Mr. Mahipal gives to you or some survey in the nearby locations.

Main Tasks

My internship at PUCL, Delhi was for 4 weeks. There was no specific timings. The office opened at 11 am and closed at 5 pm.I could come and go as I liked. Mr. Mahi Pal Singh, Secretary, PUCL visits only on Sundays.I was allowed to work from home, nothing mandatory.

Work Environment, People

The two clerks working in the office were extremely friendly and would make a cup of tea for all the interns every time they made one for themselves.

Best Things

Well, this internship experience could be used best to know how it is to work independently and gather information.

Mr. Mahi Pal at PUCL would not hesitate to provide any contact information or addresses and encouraged me to meet lawyer’s and complainant’s on the topic that was assigned to me. I also had various court visits courtesy Mr. N.D. Pancholi (Director, PUCL, Delhi)

Bad Things?

There is no legal experience involved. It mostly involves clerical work with the visit of courts. Recommended for first semester students who are not well versed with law and to gain an internship experience at a N.G.O.

What did you do to chill?

I used to bring food from home most of the times and since you don’t have to report to the office daily, it doesn’t make a difference. Though, there are lots of eating joints in the market nearby the office where we used to have chinese food and tea.

Stipend

No Stipend.

Biggest Lessons

Overall, I worked from home and worked to my convenience. And made a lot new friends. Interning at PUCL is a good experience for student’s interning for the first time. No more and no less work.
