Punjabi university Patiala campus has comfortable classrooms. The environment is friendly around the classrooms even around the campus. Proper security arrangements are there.
The campus library has rich collection of different types of books and has subscription to several national and international journals. The campus spends Rs.1 lakh on books in every session.
The campus has well-furnished air conditioned computer laboratory containing latest computers and other facilities. Each device is attached to network for better information sharing. It has high speed network connectivity.
The campus has fully furnished, multimedia seminar hall to promote and develop skills in students. The seminar hall is well equipped with facilities.
The Department of law which was established in 1965 has played a significant role in providing legal education in the region. A large number of judicial officers in the state of Punjab and Haryana are former students of law Department. The Department runs 3-year LL.B. Course in the morning and evening shifts, running LL.M. course providing research facilities for the degree of Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.).
The students of LL.B. are trained in practical work by engaging them to free legal aid camps in villages and at different places, moot courts and attaching them with practicing lawyers at the District level. The visit to the court to watch the court proceedings in action is an integral part of their syllabi.
The major areas of thrust in research are criminal law, constitutional law, International law, business law and family law. To keep pace with the present times the syllabi are continuously being updated and new areas like Human Rights, Environmental law, Cyber law and intellectual property law have been included for studies.
Our Law Department has a free legal aid clinic and PLVs are appointed by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). Also, there is a moot court room in The Law Department.
A variety of teaching and learning techniques are employed to impart knowledge and skills to students at Department of law, Punjabi University Patiala, Punjab.
Scholarships are given to students on merit basis and fellowships are granted by the UGC.
Law Department organized various seminars and conferences and workshops. Internships are provided. Free legal Aid services are provided.
Overall the University is good and it is in a process to be a great university.
