Office and Work description

The office is placed on the 4th Floor of the State Bank of India, Fort Branch. The building is located in Horniman Circle. It has a parallel road on the other side which opens right in front of the Bombay High Court.

The office is spread across the 4th floor with a reception area, sitting area, conference rooms, separate chambers for partners, Xerox room, associates rooms, accounts department, and canteen. The office does not have a separate library; however, the books are shelved across lobbies which connect conference rooms and partners chambers.

I worked under Mr. Sanjay Buch, Senior Partner and his team (Corporate) by co-authoring an article on the landmark judgment related to stamp duty payable on the scheme of amalgamation by the high court (Hindustan Lever & Anr. vs. State of Maharashtra & Anr.).

The other work assigned to me was diverse and non-monotonous ranging from issues involving – the issue of duplicate share certificates, the applicability of RTI on RoC, unsecured loans by companies, FERA Act, securities law, etc.

Work Environment

The work environment is very relaxed and informal. Due to it is liberal internship policy, the office is often flooded with interns. As the workforce is young and energetic, I felt that the associates were very approachable to doubts and queries. They made certain that I was always busy and allowed me to undertake some important tasks.

The office has a small canteen in one corner of the floor which makes sumptuous meals every day at an extremely affordable price. And there are other cool restaurants nearby ( Bademiya, Jimmy Boy etc,)

Any other insights

The constant workflow was the best thing about this internship. Work was lined up for me throughout the day. Having ample amount of work is one of the most important things that an intern would want from an internship.

I feel extremely fortunate that an internship at Crawford Bayley and Co. facilitated me to discover and explore my newly found interest in the Corporate field. The overall experience was enriching, which has encouraged and fascinated me to work in the Corporate sector.

Accommodation

One can take a P.G. near marine lines station.

Stipend

None. ( as the firm is divided into two and I was in the other part which doesn’t pay stipends but that’s cool as one gets lots of experience & the work was good and the other part pays Rs. 5000/month.)
