Need For Training

The New Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizes on research as key focus area along with encouragement of multi-disciplinary research as well as joint project research between industry and academia.

Looking at the issues and challenges as well as emphasis by NEP 2020, it is high time to encourage legal research in a systematic manner by conducting seminars and programs not only for in-house but also for everyone by using in-house talent as well as experts on the subject, with a vision to make UPES as a hub for legal research.

Brief About Training Session

The road map in the journey of legal research is a complex one. However, to begin with, one needs to analyse the ‘Literature’; which is considered to be the backbone of any research activity; i.e. the relevant Articles, Journals, Books, Statutes and legislative enactments etc. This also requires an analytical study based on current real-life situations and to formulate issues and challenges encountered. A literature review is the entry gate for the research, which depicts out the gaps and need to explore further; if any. Research work should give reflection by adding a new dimension to understanding a problem and arriving at a solution. Research without reflection is like eating without digesting.

Therefore for a novice researcher, it is essential to know:

  1. Identification of Research Problem
  2. Formation of Research Problem
  3. Research Design
  4. Empirical and Doctrinal Research
  5. Hypothesis
  6. Questionnaire
  7. Sampling
  8. Research Report

The training session will familiarize the participants with the abovementioned aspects of Research. It is expected that based on the interactions with experts and learning from each session, the participant’s doubts will be demystified and will be able to conduct meaningful research.

Duration

The training session will be of One (1) credit; Eight (8) lectures, two (2) hours each, every day in the evening from 4 to 6 pm through online mode.
