About Centre of Excellence for Cyber Law (CECL)

The Centre of Excellence for Cyber Law is one of the Centres of Excellence of Vivekananda School of Law and Legal Studies, VIPS-TC. The centre has been established as an initiative appraising the ubiquity and dynamics of cyberspace. Recognizing the compelling need for a technologically neutral and uniform legal structure dealing with cyberspace and Information Technology, it is a requirement to attain knowledge of cyber law as an indispensable necessity. In light of the emerging contours of cyberspace, meteoric development in technology, diverse legal frameworks across the globe, and the popping controversies surrounding the balancing of interests not only of individuals but also of nations, the Centre functions with a broad objective to explore techno-legal aspects of cyberspace and interpret the National and International developments in the field of Cyberlaw by integration of interdisciplinary approach through awareness, research and training programmes.

The Organizing Committee welcomes original papers, relating to, but not limited to the following topics:

I. AI and Law

  • Legal, Ethical and Social Implications of use of AI in law.
  • Involving AI in Courtrooms- Boon or Bane?
  • Dispute Resolution through AI.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Empirical Legal Studies.
  • Accountability and reliability of AI-supported systems.
  • Impact of Intelligent legal tutoring systems on legal education.

II. AI and Healthcare

  • AI application in diagnosis/drug development and reliability.
  • Ethical implications of AI in Healthcare and its challenges of governance.
  • Future of AI in Healthcare.

III. AI and Defence

  • Use of AI in cybersecurity and the protection of critical infrastructure
  • Impact of AI on the future of warfare and the potential implications for international relations and global security.
  • Development and implementation of AI in defense-related industries such as aerospace and military technology along with its economic impact.

IV. AI in Contemporary World

  • Artificial Intelligence in Finance- Opportunities, Challenges and Implications for Policy Makers along with its impact on the financial sector.
  • Demystifying AI- Beyond Classical Search to Transforming World.
  • AI and Global Trends: Competition vs. Cooperation.

V. AI and Privacy

  • Role of AI in the Interplay between Consumer Protection and Data Protection.
  • Digital Capitalism and the role of Data Privacy: Is AI a solution?
  • Is AI the key to protecting privacy and data flows across borders: International approach to data protection
  • Interference of AI in Right to Privacy- where to draw a line?

VI. AI and IPR

  • Do amendments need to be introduced to patent examination guidelines for AI-generated and AI-assisted Inventions.
  • Ownership of the Copyrights and their relation with moral rights.
  • Inventorship and Ownership of Applications in AI.

Submission Guidelines

  • Academicians, Professionals, Research Scholars and Students may register for the conference.
  • Only the registered participants shall be allowed to present their papers at the Conference subject to submission of complete papers within the stipulated time.
  • The abstract of not more than 300 words typed in Times New Roman, Font Size 12, line-spacing 1.5 with keywords must be submitted in a .docx file
  • The paper must be 3000 to 4000 words exclusive of footnotes typed in Times New Roman, with a Font Size of 12, and line spacing of 1.5. on A4 size paper with a margin of 1 Inch on all sides in a .docx file. Details such as the name of the author(s), designation, title of the article, abstract, name of the affiliating institution, and contact details are to be included.
  • Bluebook 20th Edition must be referred for citations. Footnotes must be in Times New Roman, 10 Font size with single spacing.
  • Co-authorship is allowed for up to two authors.
  • The paper must be the original work of the author(s) and must not be previously published or presented elsewhere. It shall be submitted with a plagiarism report of less than 10% through Turnitin similarity Check Software or any like similarity check software.
  • All the submissions shall be sent to aiconference.cecl@gmail.com
  • The organizers reserve the right to final selection with the right to edit the papers. Selected papers will be published in edited book with ISBN and the institute will retain the copyright of the papers.
