The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a standardized test in India for admission to various National Law Universities (NLUs) and other institutions that offer undergraduate (BA LLB) and postgraduate (LLM) law programs. CLAT is a highly competitive examination that assesses a candidate's aptitude in various areas such as English, general knowledge, mathematics, legal reasoning, and logical reasoning.

Among the 26 National Law Universities (NLUs) in India, 24 of them admit students through the CLAT examination. NLU Delhi and NLU Meghalaya, however, have their separate entrance exams for integrated BA LLB and LLM courses and are not part of the CLAT consortium. Among aspiring law students, National Law Universities are typically their top choice when it comes to CLAT colleges in India.
