About CNLU

Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) is a prestigious law university located in Patna, Bihar, India. It was established in 2006 and is named after the ancient Indian scholar and political strategist Chanakya. CNLU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in law.

CNLU is recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and is affiliated with the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university has a highly qualified faculty and provides a comprehensive legal education to its students. It also organizes various seminars, workshops, and conferences to promote legal research and awareness.

About CNLU Legal Aid Cell

CNLU Legal Aid Cell with its motto Stand Speak Act was established in the year 2015 with the vision to ensure fair and meaningful justice to the marginalized and disadvantaged by bringing them legal awareness and aid. The main objectives of the Legal Aid Cell are to promote legal awareness throughout the State of Bihar, to provide pro bono legal aid to those who are in need, and to inculcate social responsibility which will lead to the realization of goals embodied in the Constitution of India. CNLU Legal Aid Cell is further divided into 4 different centres i.e., the Consumer Rights Centre, Centre for Client Counselling, Centre for Legal Awareness Camps, and Centre for Research on Cases.

About VIDHIKTA 2.0

The event is called VIDHIKTA 2.0. Vidhikta is the confluence of two words 'Vidhik' and 'Sahayta'. 'Vidhik Sahayta' or legal aid is the act of assisting those people who are in need of legal recourse but are dampened by financial constraints. Vidhikta 2.0 is going to give a platform to redefine legal aid. It is a platform to express, innovate and gain knowledge through jam-packed events with marvellous rewards and additional perks.

Vidhikta 2.0 has various events lined up for the three days:

  • Mock Lok Adalat;
  • National Client Counselling Competition;
  • Contract Drafting;
  • Legal Start-up and Social Business Plan Competition;
  • Nukkad Natak;
  • Quiz Competition;
  • PIL Drafting Competition.

Three events namely Mock Lok Adalat. National Client Counselling and Nukkad Natak will be held in Offline mode in the CNLU Campus, and the rest of the events are to be held in Online mode. The details of all these events can be found in the brochure attached along with this post.

Eligibility

  • National Client Counselling Competition, Mock Lok Adalat Competition, Quiz Competition, PIL Drafting Competition, and Contract Drafting Competition are open to all students pursuing an LL.B. (3-year or 5-year course) or LL.M. from any recognized university across India.
  • Nukkad Natak Competition is open to students (from any field of study), NGOs, social workers, teachers, academicians, and para-legal volunteers (PLVs).
  • Legal Start-up and Social Business Plan Competition is open to both UG and PG students currently enrolled in any recognized college or university.

Team Composition

  • In the Client Counselling Competition, the team shall comprise a minimum of Two (2) participants.
  • The team composition for Mock Lok Adalat is Three (3) which includes the Presiding Officer (who shall be the neutral party and will help the parties in dispute in reaching an amicable settlement, the Petitioner/Respondent Advocate; and the Petitioner/Responded Client.
  • The team composition for the Nukkad Natak Competition shall be a maximum of Twelve (12) people.
  • Each team for the Quiz Competition shall comprise only one participant.
  • For the PIL Drafting Competition, each team shall comprise a minimum of one (1) and a maximum of two (2) participants.
  • In the Legal Start-up and Social Business Proposal Competition, each team shall comprise a of minimum one (1) and a maximum of three (3) participants.
  • In the Contract Drafting Competition, each team shall comprise a of minimum one (1) and a maximum of two (2) participants.

Prizes

Vidhikta 2.0 is promising a very exciting prize pool of Rs. 2,30,000/- for various events.

National Client Counselling Competition

  • Best Counsel – Rs. 20,000 + Internship Opportunity + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.
  • 2nd Best Counsel – Rs. 15,000 + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.
  • Best Client – Rs. 10,000 + Internship Opportunity + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.

Mock Lok Adalat Competition

  • WINNER – Rs. 20,000 + Internship Opportunity + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.
  • RUNNER UP – Rs.15,000 + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.
  • Best Mediator– Rs. 5,000 + Internship Opportunity + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.

Nukkad Natak

  • Winning Team – Rs. 25,000 + Certificate of Merit + Trophy
  • 2nd Best Team- Rs. 20,000 + Certificate of Merit + Trophy.

Quiz Competition

  • Winner – Rs. 10,000 + Certificate of Merit.
  • Runner’s up – Rs. 7000 + Certificate of Merit.

PIL Drafting Competition

  • Winner – Rs. 10,000 + Internship Opportunity + Certificate of Merit.
  • Runner’s-up – Rs. 7,000 + Certificate of Merit.
  • First Runner’s – Rs. 5,000 + Certificate of Merit.

Legal Start-Up & Social Business Plan Competition

  • Winners – Rs 10,000 + Certificate of Merit.
  • 1st Runner Up – Rs. 7,000 + Certificate of Merit.
  • 2nd Runner Up – Rs. 5,000 + Certificate of Merit.

Contract Drafting Competition

  • Winners: Rs 10,000 + Certificate of Merit.
  • 1st Runner Ups: 7,000 + Certificate of Merit.
  • 2nd Runner Up: 5000 + Certificate of Merit.
