JGU MUN Society, O.P. Jindal Global University is organizing a Model United Nations, scheduled to be held from 21st to 22nd January 2024.

About the University

O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary and research-oriented university founded in 2009. JGU was established as a philanthropic initiative of its Founding Chancellor, Mr. Naveen Jindal, in memory of his father, Mr. O.P. Jindal. JGU maintains a 1:9 faculty-student ratio and appoints faculty members from India and different parts of the world with outstanding academic qualifications and experience.

About JGU MUN Society

O.P. Jindal Global University, to pursue its long-term goal of institution building, public service and globalizing education, is organizing a Model United Nations Conference, through the efforts of the JGU MUN Society and its Faculty Coordinators. The MUN Society is a body that is co-run by faculty and students’ representatives. The aim is to facilitate and enable the students of JGU to represent the university and actively participate in Model UN Conferences, Youth Parliaments and any other related events approved by the Society Board under the name of JGU MUN Society.

The JGU MUN Society is conducting a series of regional MUN conferences with its Global Conference Summit at our ever-beautiful campus in Sonipat.

Committees JGU MUN

This year JGUMUN will be conducted in 4 different regions of India with 7 different committees namely:

I. United Nations General Assembly (Plenary) Intergovernmental Negotiations

  • Agenda: Agenda 2030 and Sustainable Development Goals

II. United Nations Security Council

  • Agenda: Role of UNSC in the context of the ongoing conflict in Gaza

III. United Nations Commission on Status of Women

  • Agenda: Rule of Taliban - A No Women's Land

4. All India Political Parties Meet

  • Agenda: Uniform Law for Inner Party Democracy in India

V. United Nations Environment Program

  • Agenda: Human Rights Obligations and Climate Change

VI. United Nations Human Rights Council

  • Agenda: Challenges with Human Rights Protection in Authoritarian States

VII. International Press

Eligibility

  • The delegate should currently be enrolled in a high school or an equivalent institution.
  • The delegate may have completed their final examination for their respective High School but should not have enrolled in any undergraduate or post-secondary educational institution.

Structure of the MUN

The JGU MUN will be conducted across the country discussing national and international concerns chaired by only the best Executive Board members and Chairpersons the circuits have to offer. Conferences will be held in Sonipat on Campus, O.P. Jindal Global University (20th and 21st January, 2024) and in Mumbai in Nahar International School (16th and 17th March, 2024)
