1. Recognition of Sex work as a profession (1st June 2022)

Supreme Court of India recognised sex work as a profession whose practitioners are entitled to dignity and equal protection of the law. The 3-judge bench led by Justice L. Nageswara Rao stated that police should neither interfere nor take criminal action against the consenting adult sex workers. 

2. Defence Contract signed for the supply of ASTRA MK-1 BVR AAM (1st June 2022)

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has inked a contract with Hyderabad-based public sector Bharat Dynamic Limited (BDL) for the supply of ASTRA MK-1 Beyond Visual Range (BVR) Air-to-Air Missile (AAM) and related equipment to the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy.

3. June 01st recognised as World Milk Day By FAO (1st June 2022)

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations adopted June 1 as World Milk Day. The day is marked to recognise milk as global food and to celebrate the dairy industry. The theme chosen for the year 2022 is 'dairy net zero'.

4. Inauguration of 1st Nano Urea Plant in Gujarat (2nd June 2022)

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi inaugurated the world's first nano urea liquid plant by Indian Farmer's Fertilisers Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) at Kalol, Gujarat.

5. India's 1st LMT commissioned in Uttarakhand (2nd June 2022)

The first liquid mirror telescope in the country and the largest in Asia – was commissioned atop Devasthal, a hill in Uttarakhand. This will now keep a watch on the overhead sky to identify transient or variable objects such as supernovae, gravitational lenses, space debris, and asteroids.

6. United Nations approved Turkey's request to rename it as 'Turkiye' (2nd June 2022)

On 2nd June 2022, The United Nations changed the Republic of Turkey's country name at the organisation from "Turkey" to "Türkiye", following a request from Ankara for the change.

7. SHRESHTA Scheme launched by Union Government (3rd June 2022)

Union Minister of Social justice and empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar launched the Scheme "SHRESHTA"-Scheme for residential education for students in High schools in Targeted Areas. The Scheme for Residential Education for Students in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA) has been formulated with the objective to provide quality education and opportunities for even the poorest. Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA) provides for high-quality education for meritorious but poor SC students in CBSE-affiliated reputed residential schools across the country.

8. Right to Repair is recognised for the first time in New York (3rd June 2022)

New York state legislature is the world's first, to pass a law for Digital Electronics. The "right to repair" bill was enacted by requiring digital electronics makers to make parts, tools, information, and software available to customers and independent repair businesses.

9. Meghalaya win the best project award at UN World Summit (4th June 2022)

The Meghalaya government's key initiative of the e-proposal system, part of Meghalaya Enterprise Architect has won a coveted UN Award- World Summit on the Information Society Forum (WSIS) prize at Geneva in Switzerland. 

10. IAF Heritage Centre to come up in Chandigarh (5th June 2022)

A heritage centre to showcase the role of the Indian Air Force in various wars and its overall functioning will come up at Chandigarh. The 'IAF Heritage Centre' will be set up jointly by the force and the Chandigarh administration. An MoU between the Union Territory of Chandigarh and the IAF for setting up the centre was inked. 

11. PM Narendra Modi launched a global initiative "LiFE" (5th June 2022)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the 'Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) Movement', a global initiative, and asserted that its vision is to live a lifestyle that is in tune with our planet and does not harm it.

12. Joint Military Training Exercise conducted by India-Bangladesh(5th June 2022)

India-Bangladesh bilateral defence cooperation, a joint military training exercise Ex SAMPRITI-X is being conducted at Jashore Military Station in Bangladesh from 05 June to 16 June 2022. The aim of the exercise is to strengthen interoperability between the two armies and to understand each other's tactical drills and operational techniques.

13. World Environment Day every year around the globe(5th June 2022)

World Environment Day is observed globally on 5th June every year. This day is observed to raise awareness about protecting the environment and to remind people not to take nature for granted. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the nodal agency that organises and supports events across the world. The year 2022 marks the 50th WED. Sweden is the host this year and the theme is 'Only One Earth,' focusing on the need to live sustainably in harmony with nature.

14. Blue Duke declared as State Butterfly of Sikkim (5th June 2022)

Chief Minister P.S. Golay, during the World Environment Day celebrations on 5th June 2022, declared Blue Duke as the State Butterfly of Sikkim.

15. Agni-4 Ballistic Missile executed in Odisha(6th June 2022)

India successfully executed a nuclear-capable Agni-4 ballistic missile from APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha. The missile has a range of around 4,000 kilometres.

16. India's first-ever book on Sports Marketing titled "Business of Sports: The Winning Formula for Success" launched (6th June 2022)

India's leading sports and Management institute, the International Institute of Sports & Management (IISM) in Mumbai, Maharashtra, launched India's first-ever book on Sports Marketing titled "Business of Sports: The Winning Formula for Success" authored by noted Sports author Vinit Karnik.

17. World Food Safety Day celebrated by WHO (7th June 2022)

World Food Safety Day is celebrated globally on June 7 every year as per the World Health Organization (WHO). This year, the theme is Safer food, and better health. WHO also launched a campaign to inspire global participation. The United Nations General Assembly established World Food Safety Day in 2018 to raise awareness of this vital food safety issue.

18. National Air Sport policy 2022 (NASP 2022) launched by the Minister of Civil Aviation(7th June 2022)

The Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Jyoti Aditya M. Scandia, launched the National Air Sport policy 2022 (NASP 2022). The vision of NASP 2022 is to make India one of the top sports nations by 2023. The policy ensures to provide safe, affordable, accessible, enjoyable, and sustainable air sports in India.

19. Ramakrishna Mukkavilli became the first Indian to be recognised as a Global SDG Pioneer (7th June 2022)

For the first time in the world, an Indian has been named a Global Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Pioneer for Water Stewardship by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).

20. India Performed worst in Environment Performance Index, 2022 (8th June 2022)

India came in last out of 180 countries with an overall score of 18.9 in the Environment Performance Index, 2022 while Denmark came in first as the world's most sustainable country. The environment Performance Index (EPI) is an analysis by Yale and Columbia University researchers that gives a data-driven evaluation of the situation of sustainability around the world.

21. World Oceans Day (8th June 2022)

World Oceans Day is celebrated on June 8 every year across the globe. The day is commemorated to remind people of the importance of the oceans and their major role in everyday life. The day is also observed to make raise public awareness of the ocean and its resources in order to promote global ocean and resource sustainability. "Revitalization: collective action for the ocean" is the theme for World Oceans Day 2022.

22. Mithali raj announced retirement from all forms of international cricket (8th June 2022)

Indian women's cricket team captain, Mithali Raj (39 years old), hailing from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, announced her retirement from all forms of international cricket.

23. World Brain Tumour Day (8th June)

World Brain Tumour Day is observed every year on 8th June with an aim to create awareness about brain tumours. It is a mass or growth of abnormal cells in your brain. The day also pays tribute to brain tumour patients, their families and healthcare professionals. The theme of World Tumour Day, 2022 is 'Together We Are Stronger'.

24. The books 'Loktantra ke Swar' and 'The Republican Ethic is released (9th June 2022)

Union Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan along with Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Sports Anurag Thakur released books 'Loktantra ke Swar' and 'The Republican Ethic, having selected speeches of the President of India Ram Nath Kovind.

25. Most detailed map of the moon released by China (9th June 2022)

China has released a new geological map of the moon, which it says is the most detailed to date, registering even finer details of the lunar surface than mapped by the US in 2020.

26. New member countries elected to UNSC (9th June 2022)

Ecuador, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, and Switzerland were elected to the United Nations Security Council as non-permanent members for the 2023-2024 term, and took over the horseshoe table from India, Ireland, Kenya, Mexico, and Norway on January 1, 2023.

27. Country's first homegrown COVID-19 vaccine "Anocovax" for animals launched (10th June 2022)

Agriculture Minister, Narendra Singh Tomar has launched the country's first homegrown COVID-19 vaccine "Anocovax" for animals, developed by Haryana-based ICAR-National Research Centre on Equines (NRC).

28. Hindi language is for the first time mentioned by UNGA (11th June 2022)

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted an India-sponsored resolution on multilingualism that mentions the Hindi language for the first time.

29. 12th World Trade Organization's (WTO) Ministerial Conference (MC12) held in Geneva (12th June 2022-17th June 2022)

The 12th World Trade Organization's (WTO) Ministerial Conference (MC12) opened at WTO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. During the four-day meeting, trade organisation members will discuss issues such as TRIPS (Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights) waiver for COVID-19 vaccines, pandemic response, fishery subsidies, agriculture, food security, as well as the WTO's reform and its future work priorities.

30. Karnataka government launched FRUITS software for the farmer scheme (13th June 2022)

The Karnataka government has launched 'The Farmer Registration & Unified Beneficiary Information System' or FRUITS software for Aadhar-based, single-window registration for the schemes.

31. 38th India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) (13th June 2022)

The 38th India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT) between the Indian Navy Units of Andaman & Nicobar Command (ANC) and the Indonesian Navy is being conducted from June 13 to 24, 2022 in the Andaman Sea and Straits of Malacca.

32. GOI launched Agnipath Scheme (14th June 2022)

The Indian government has introduced the Agnipath Military recruitment scheme, a 4-year tenure scheme for the defence troops. The scheme will facilitate the induction of more troops for shorter-term tenures. The scheme has been planned and is being implemented by the Department of Military Affairs.

33. India successfully tests fired Prithvi-II (15th June 2022)

India has test-launched a Short-Range Ballistic Missile, Prithvi-II from an integrated test range in Chandipur, Odisha.

34. India Ranks 37th on IMD's Report

India has seen the sharpest growth among the Asian economies, with a six-position jump from 43rd to 37th rank on the annual World Competitiveness Index 2022 released on 15th June 2022. The Institute for Management Development (IMD) has compiled the Index.

35. 8th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians hosted in Egypt  (15th June 2022)

The Eighth Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians has been started in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt to address climate change. The two-day conference is being jointly organized by the House of Representatives and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

36. Japan to attend NATO Summit for the first time (15th June 2022)

Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida will attend this month's NATO summit in Madrid, becoming the country's first leader to join a top meeting of the transatlantic alliance.

37. World's largest living plant identified in Australia (16th June 2022)

The world's largest living plant has been identified in the shallow waters off the coast of Western Australia. The sprawling seagrass, a marine flowering plant known as Posidonia australis, stretches for more than 112 miles (180 kilometres) in Shark Bay,

38. The 1st Balika Panchayat of the Country took place in Gujarat (17th June 2022)

The country's first-ever, 'Balika Panchayat', has started in five villages of Gujarat's Kutch district. The initiative aims to promote the social and political development of the girls and ensure their active participation in politics. This initiative has been taken by the Women and Child Development Welfare Department of the Gujarat Government under the 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' campaign.

39. Hamad International Airport, Qatar named as World's Best Airport (18th June 2022)

Qatar's Hamad International Airport has been named the World's Best Airport for the second year running. The announcement took place at the Skytrax 2022 World Airport Awards, held at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Paris, France. Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR Airport) was named the finest regional airport in India and South Asia.

40. Neeraj Chopra wins gold with 86.69m at Kuortane Games (18th June 2022)

Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra clinched his first top podium finish of the season by winning the javelin throw event at the Kuortane Games in Finland, beating reigning world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada. The 24-year-old Chopra's opening throw of 86.69m turned out to be the winning distance

41. NIPUN Initiative launched in New Delhi (21st June 2022)

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri has launched an innovative project National Initiative for Promoting Upskilling of Nirman workers (NIPUN) in New Delhi. NIPUN is an initiative of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under its flagship scheme of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission DAY-NULM to train over one lakh construction workers, through fresh skilling and upskilling programmes and provides them with work opportunities in foreign countries also.

42. International Day of Yoga (21st June)

The 8th edition of International Day of Yoga is celebrated worldwide on 21st June with the theme 'Yoga for Humanity' across the world with great enthusiasm.

43. India's GSAT-24 launched (23rd June 2022)

New Space India Limited (NSIL) launched GSAT-24, following the space reforms leasing the entire satellite's capacity to Direct-to-Home (DTH) service provider Tata Play. This was the company's first "demand-driven" communication satellite mission. The satellite, developed by the Indian Space Research Organization for NSIL, was successfully launched into geostationary orbit from Kourou in French Guiana by the Ariane 5 rocket (South America).

44. Jammu and Kashmir to host G20 meeting in 2023 (24th June 2022)

Jammu and Kashmir will host the 2023 meetings of the G20, an influential group of the world's major economies. The J&K government has set up a five-member high-level committee for the overall coordination of G20 meetings to be held in the Union Territory.

45. Odisha, 'Mo Bus' Service received the prestigious UN Public Service Award (25th June 2022)

Odisha, the 'Mo Bus' Service received the prestigious UN Public Service Award Mo Bus, Odisha-based public transport service has been honoured with a prestigious United Nations award, for its role and efforts in helping the world recover better from Covid19. The UN said that the public transport service has recognised its role in "promoting gender-responsive public services to achieve the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals)".

46. Shreya Lenka from Odisha joins Blackswan and becomes the first K-pop star in India (26th June 2022)

Shreya Lenka is the first Indian woman ever to have a successful career as a K-pop performer. Along with a Brazilian woman named Gabriela Dalcin, the 18-year-old from Odisha is currently a member of the well-known South Korean girl group Blackswan. DR Music, the recording company for Blackswan, released the information.

47. Akash Ambani is the new chairman of Jio (effective from 27th June 2022)

Mukesh Ambani's eldest son Akash Ambani will take over as chairman of Jio Info COMM's board, the digital division of Reliance industries, in what is viewed as the 65-year-old billionaire's succession planning.

48. NASA Launched CAPSTONE Mission to the moon (28th June 2022)

NASA researchers successfully launched the CAPSTONE spacecraft to the moon from New Zealand. The launch took place on Rocket Lab's Electron rocket. Mission CAPSTONE stands for Cislunar Autonomous Positioning System Technology Operations and Navigation Experiment.

49. Partners in the Blue Pacific launched (29th June 2022)

The US and its allies, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and the United Kingdom, have launched a new initiative called Partners in the Blue Pacific for effective and efficient cooperation with the region's small island nations in response to China's aggressive push to expand its sphere of influence in the Pacific.

50. International Asteroids Day 2022 (30th June 2022)

World Asteroid Day (also known as International Asteroid Day) is an annual UN-sanctioned global awareness campaign event observed on June 30, which is the anniversary of the Siberian Tunguska event of 1908. To provide knowledge to the general public about the importance of asteroids in history, and the role they play in our solar system today. The theme of Asteroid Day 2022 is "small is beautiful".
