1. India is set to launch its first indigenously developed Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (qHPV)

On 1st September 2022, India is set to launch its first indigenously developed Quadrivalent Human Papillomavirus Vaccine (qHPV) against Cervical cancer with the help of the Serum Institute of India (SII) and the Department of Biotechnology (DBT). The vaccine for Cervical cancer "CERVAVAC", will be launched by Union Minister of State Science and Technology Jitendra Singh. The vaccine is likely to cost around 200-400 per dose.

2. Kalyan Chaubey appointed as President of The All India Football Federation (AIFF)

On 2nd September 2022, Kalyan Chaubey was appointed as President of AIFF The All India Football Federation (AIFF) got a former player as its first president in its 85-year history with Kalyan Chaubey beating Bhaichung Bhutia in the election.

3. Starbucks names Indian-origin Laxman Narasimhan as new CEO

On 3rd September 2022, the popular international café chain Starbucks named Indian-origin Laxman Narasimhan as its new Chief Executive Officer. Narasimhan will join Starbucks on 1 October 2022, replacing Howard Schultz, who will continue as interim chief until April 2023.

4. SEBI rejigs panel on cyber security

On 4th September 2022, SEBI rejigs panel on cyber security, and expands to six members Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has restructured its 4 members, a high-level panel on cyber security that suggests measures to safeguard the capital markets from cyber attacks.

5. Anishka Biyani wins Gold medal in Malaysian chess meet

On 4th September 2022, Anishka Biyani won a Gold medal in the Malaysian chess meet. Six-year-old Anishka Biyani won the gold medal in the Malaysian Age Group Rapid Chess Championship in Kuala Lumpur.

6. Amit Shah launches anthem & mascot of 36th National Games in Ahmedabad

On 4th September 2022, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the mascot and the anthem for the 36th National Games in Ahmedabad. The mascot is named as 'Savaj' which means cub in Gujarati. While the theme of the anthem of the national games is 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.' The 36th edition of the National Games will be organized between September 29 to October 12 at six cities in Gujarat.

7. Justice DY Chandrachud has been appointed as the next executive chairperson of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA)

On 6th September 2022, Supreme Court judge Justice DY Chandrachud was appointed as the next executive chairperson of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA). The post was previously held by the Chief Justice of India UU Lalit.

8. Change in name of Rajpath and Central Vista lawns into Kartavya Path

On 7th September  2022, The government of India announced to change of the name of Rajpath and Central Vista lawns into Kartavya Path. The decision is said to shed remnants of the British colony in India. The decision came after a special meeting, convened with the aim of renaming the Rajpath and Central Vista lawns.

9. International Literacy Day (ILD)

On 8th September 2022, International Literacy Day (ILD) is celebrated every year all across the globe to make people aware of the meaning and importance of literacy for individuals and societies.

10. The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) Centre for Citizen Services

On 8th September 2022, the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) Centre for Citizen Services, was inaugurated by Chief Justice of India Uday Umesh Lalit. The space at Jaisalmer House which was provided to NALSA would be utilised for the establishment of Legal Assistance Centre for Citizens, Legal Assistance Centre for NRIs, Training Centre, and Digital Command Centre for providing futuristic legal services across the country.

11. Suella Braverman is UK's new Home Secretary

On 8th September 2022, Liz Truss, the new British prime minister, named Suella Braverman, a lawyer of Indian descent, as the country's new home secretary. Priti Patel, who is of Indian descent, will be replaced in the position by Suella Braverman.

12. International Day to Protect Education from Attack

On September 9th, the International Day to Protect Education from Attack is an international observance established by a unanimous decision of the United Nations General Assembly in 2020. It is observed on September 9 of each year.

13. North Korea passes law regarding Nuclear Strikes

On 9th September 2022, North Korea approved a law that gives it the authority to launch a nuclear attack in advance. With the recently passed law, North Korea's status as a nuclear weapons state has become irreversible. North Korea, this year tested a record number of weapons, including an intercontinental ballistic missile.

14. Volker Türk appointed as the Human Rights Chief

On 10th September 2022, the United Nations (UN) General Assembly approved Volker Türk of Austria to be the global body's Human Rights Chief by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Volker Turk replaces Verónica Michelle Bachelet Jeria, a Chilean politician who served at the office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) from 2018 to 2022.

15. Remembering 9/11 attacks

On 11th September 2022, Americans remembered 9/11 with readings of victims' names, volunteer work and other tributes 21 years after the deadliest terror attack on US soil.

16. Former Chief Justice of India Kamal Narain Singh passed away

On 12th September 2022, Former Chief Justice of India Kamal Narain Singh passed away at the age of 95. Justice Narain had a tenure of only 17 days as the CJI, making him the chief justice with the shortest tenure. He was the 22nd Chief Justice of India, with a term from November 25, 1991, to December 12, 1991.

17. Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari as the Chairman of the Appellate Tribunal

On 12th September 2022, the Centre appointed Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari as the Chairman of the Appellate Tribunal under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

18. Cyber Crime Investigation and Intelligence Summit 2022

On 13th September 2022, the 4th Cyber Crime Investigation and Intelligence Summit-2022 was organized by the Madhya Pradesh Police to improve the knowledge and abilities of police sub-inspectors and senior investigating officers in order to effectively prevent cybercrimes.

19. 15th anniversary of the International Day of Democracy

On 15th September 2022, This year marks the 15th anniversary of the International Day of Democracy. The day is celebrated annually around the world to strengthen democracies and highlight its values and principles.

20. World's largest museum of Harappan culture is coming up in Rakhigarhi

On 15th September 2022, The world's largest museum of Harappan culture is coming up in Rakhigarhi in Haryana to showcase about 5,000-year-old Indus Valley artifacts announced. The village of Rakhigarhi was part of the Indus Valley Civilisation from 2600-1900 BC.

21. Vinesh Phogat won bronze at the World Wrestling Championship 2022

On 15th September 2022, Vinesh Phogat won bronze at the World Wrestling Championship 2022 in the women's 53kg category. Vinesh Phogat became the first Indian woman wrestler to win two medals at the World Championship. She also became the first Indian woman to win a gold medal at both the Commonwealth and Asian Games. At Commonwealth Games 2022, she won the gold medal in the women's 53 kg freestyle wrestling category.

22. Karnataka Right to freedom of Religion Bill 2022

On September 16th 2022, The 'Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill' was passed by the state legislative council. The bill bans forced religious conversions by direct or indirect means and gives specific procedures for undertaking a religious conversion.

23. Vanessa Nakate was appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF)

On 17th September 2022, United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) appointed Vanessa Nakate, a 25-year-old climate activist from Uganda as the Goodwill Ambassador of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF). Her collaboration with the organization and recognising her outstanding global advocacy for climate justice for current and future generations.

24. Andaman and Nicobar Islands as India's first Swachh Sujal Pradesh

On 19th September 2022, Union Jal Shakti Minister, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat declared Andaman and Nicobar Islands as India's first Swachh Sujal Pradesh. With this accomplishment, all villages on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have received the Har Ghar Jal certification and have been verified as ODF plus open defecation free. Safe and secure drinking water supply and its management is a crucial aspect of the Sujal and Swachh.

25. World's first Cheetah Rehabilitation Project

On 20th September 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released wild Cheetahs in Kuno National Park and launched the world's first Cheetah Rehabilitation Project.

26. Saffron from Kashmir GI-tagged

With effect from 20th September 2022, Farmers in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are now able to sell their products on domestic and international marketplaces thanks to the GI labeling of Kashmiri saffron.

27. Devendra Jhajharia has clinched a silver medal in the World Para Athletics Grand Prix

On 21st September 2022, Indian javelin thrower, Devendra Jhajharia clinched a silver medal in the World Para Athletics Grand Prix, in Morocco. Paralympics gold medalist Devendra threw the javelin to a distance of 60.97 meters to capture the silver.

28. Criminal Procedure (Identification) Act 2022

On 21st September 2022, The Home Affairs Ministry notified the rules governing the implementation of the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Act, 2022. The act repeals the Identification of Prisoners Act, 1920, whose scope was limited to collecting finger impressions, footprint impressions, and photographs of the convicted persons and certain categories of arrested and non-convicted persons based on the order from the Magistrate. The new law enables police and central investigating agencies to collect, store, and analyze physical and biological samples like retina and iris scans of arrested individuals.

29. Trustees of the PM CARES Fund

Announced on 22nd September 2022, According to the prime minister's office, Veteran industrialist Ratan Tata, former Supreme Court judge KT Thomas, and former deputy Lok Sabha speaker Kariya Munda have been nominated as trustees of the PM CARES Fund.

30. Justice T Raja appointed as acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court

With effect from September 22nd 2022, The President has appointed Justice T Raja, the senior-most Judge of the Madras high court as Acting Chief Justice with effect from September 22, 2022.

31. Draft Indian Telecommunication Bill 2022

On 22nd September 2022, Draft Indian Telecommunications Bill, 2022 was unveiled recently by the Department of Telecommunications for stakeholders' comments. The objective of the draft bill is to consolidate and make changes to existing laws for the development, expansion and operation of telecommunication services, telecom networks, and infrastructure in India.

32. Committee for pharma marketing practices

On 23rd September 2022, the Government set up a five-member committee chaired by Dr. VK Paul, NITI Aayog member (health) to create a legal mechanism to address the issue of pharmaceutical companies giving incentives to promote their drugs and products.

33. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman will launch the Bharat Vidya

On 24th September 2022, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman announced the launch of Bharat Vidya, which is an online learning platform for Oriental and South Asian Studies. The Bharat Vidya is designed and developed by the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI). Bharat Vidya is a first-of-its-kind online platform, which will offer both free and paid courses covering various aspects of Indology about art, architecture, philosophy, language, and science.

34. Antyodaya Diwas: 25 September

On September 25th, Every year, Antyodaya Diwas is celebrated in India to mark the birth anniversary of Pt Deendayal Upadhyaya, who developed the concept of 'Integral Humanism'. 38. Kannada language comprehensive development bill

On 27th September 2022, The Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Bill was tabled at the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. The Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Bill gives preference to Kannadigas in government jobs and provides reservations to locals in private jobs generated in the state. Under this Bill, practical and functional knowledge of Kannada will be taught in higher, technical, and professional education courses. Students who have studied in Kannada Medium schools will get reservations in higher education.

39. Death anniversary of Raja Ram Mohan Roy

27th September 2022, marked the 189th Death anniversary of one of India's greatest revolutionaries, Raja Ram Mohan Roy. A reformer, scholar and harbinger of the Indian Renaissance, Roy passed away on this day in 1833 in England.

40. World Tourism Day: 27 September

On September 27th, World Tourism Day is celebrated each year to spread awareness about the importance of tourism and its impact on our society. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) was established this day in 1980. In 1997, UNWTO decided to designate a host country each year to celebrate this day. In 2022, Indonesia is the host country & the theme is 'Rethinking Tourism'.

41. Operation Megha Chakra

On 27th September 2022, CBI launched the operation. CBI hunts for Child Sexual Abuse Material Online Circulation Cases in 20 States & UTs. As part of Operation Megha Chakra, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) searched 56 locations across 20 States and Union Territories in relation to cases of the internet distribution of child sexual abuse material.

42. Rajendra Kumar appointed as director general of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation

On 27th September 2022, Senior bureaucrat Rajendra Kumar was appointed the director general of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation, as part of a senior-level bureaucratic reshuffle affected by the Centre.

43. Live streaming of Constitutional bench proceedings

On September 28th 2022, for the first time, India's apex court live-streamed the three separate constitutional bench proceedings simultaneously in YouTube.The cases heard by these benches are the challenge to the 10 percent quota for economically weaker sections of the society, the scuffle between Maharashtra Chief Minister Shinde's faction and the Uddhav Thackeray camp over who was the "real" Shiv Sena Party, and the challenge to the All India Bar Examination post-enrollment for lawyers.

On 28th September 2022, Vinayak Godse to be new CEO of Data Security Council of India was announced. Vinayak Godse will succeed Rama Vedashree, who oversaw Data Security Council of India (DSCI) for nearly six years. Vedashree also served on the Justice BN Srikrishna committee, which was charged with developing a model for the nation's Personal Data Protection Bill.

49. 'GARUDA' to dismantle drug networks

On 29th September 2022, The Central Bureau of Investigation launched a multi-phase 'Operation Garuda' against an illicit drug trafficking network. This global operation was initiated in close coordination with Interpol and Narcotics Control Bureau, with a special focus on the Indian Ocean region. Operation Garuda seeks to target drug networks with international footprints for action against handlers & production zone.

50. Supreme Court judgment on Abortion

On 30th September 2022, The Supreme Court declared that all women have the right to safe and legal abortions up to 24 weeks of pregnancy no matter their marital status.
