In a major boost to legal education infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh, the Council of Ministers, Government of Madhya Pradesh, has approved ₹197 crore 13 lakh for Phase-II construction of Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur. The decision was taken on Monday, December 22, 2025, marking another important step toward the development of the University’s permanent campus.

What Phase-II Construction Will Bring

The newly approved Phase-II project is set to significantly transform the DNLU campus. The expansion will include the construction of a dedicated Administration Block, a state-of-the-art Academic Block, staff housing, a campus boundary wall, and other essential allied infrastructure.

These additions will strengthen the University’s academic and administrative capacity as it continues to offer its flagship programmes B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M., and Ph.D. to students from across the country.

Strong Judicial Leadership and Governance

Dharmashastra National Law University functions under a robust statutory and judicial framework. Hon’ble Shri Justice J. K. Maheshwari, Judge, Supreme Court of India, serves as the Visitor of the University and provides institutional guidance.

The University is also guided by Hon’ble Shri Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Chief Justice of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh and Chancellor, along with Hon’ble Shri Justice Vivek Agarwal, Judge, High Court of Madhya Pradesh and Member of the General Council, ensuring strong governance and academic integrity.

University Leadership Expresses Gratitude

Welcoming the approval, Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Praveen Tripathi, Registrar, expressed their sincere gratitude to Dr. Mohan Yadav, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, for his continued support in strengthening the University’s permanent campus.

They also acknowledged the contributions of Shri Inder Singh Parmar, Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education, the Council of Ministers, various Government Departments, and members of the General Council, Executive Council, Academic Council, Finance Committee, and other governing bodies for their guidance and cooperation.

Phase-I Nears Completion, Campus Shift Planned

Meanwhile, Phase-I of the DNLU campus is nearing completion, featuring separate Girls’ and Boys’ Hostels with a total of 824 rooms, along with spacious and independent mess facilities. The University plans to shift its housing and allied amenities to the new campus at the earliest, subject to statutory and administrative approvals.
