The Faculty of Law, University of Delhi has successfully concluded a Five Days (40 Hours) Mediation Training Program aimed at capacity-building in mediation and allied ADR practices. The programme was conducted from 28 November to 2 December 2025 under the aegis of the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), Supreme Court of India. A total of 38 faculty members participated, marking a substantial step forward in strengthening mediation culture within legal academia.

The training was led by Senior Advocate and Senior Mediator Mr. J.P. Sengh, along with Mrs. Veena Ralli, Advocate and Senior Mediator, both highly respected names in the field of mediation in India. Their sessions combined discussions, role plays, simulation exercises, mock mediation activities and extensive audio-visual engagement. This blended method ensured that the training remained experiential in nature, offering participants practical exposure and hands-on learning rather than a theoretical workshop.

The program stands as an important institutional effort towards enhancing the mediation skill-set of faculty members at Delhi University. It is widely acknowledged that the success of this training was made possible due to the active support and involvement of the Hon’ble Chairman and the Secretary of the MCPC, Supreme Court of India. Their guidance has played a pivotal role in furthering mediation-based dispute resolution frameworks across the country.

With mediation emerging as a vital tool for easing the burden on courts and promoting consensual resolution of disputes, such initiatives represent a strong move toward progressive legal reform and educational empowerment. The Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, through this programme, has reaffirmed its commitment to equip legal educators with effective conflict resolution techniques rooted in dialogue, negotiation and reconciliation.

This 40-hour training is expected to help integrate mediation competencies into legal teaching, research and practical exposure for students, and to inspire further collaboration between institutions such as the Delhi University Faculty of Law and the MCPC, Supreme Court of India.
