Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University (RPNLU), Prayagraj, has added another prestigious milestone to its growing list of academic achievements by winning the National Moot Court Championship hosted by the Department of Law, University of North Bengal, Darjeeling, held on 11–12 December 2025.
In a highly competitive field featuring more than fifty teams from leading law institutions such as NLU Meghalaya, NLU Tripura, Christ University, Delhi, and several other premier universities, the RPNLU Prayagraj team delivered an outstanding performance marked by intellectual rigour, disciplined advocacy, and professional excellence. Their victory stands as a strong testament to the University’s rapidly advancing stature in the national mooting arena.
The moot court problem revolved around a constitutional–criminal law proposition, focusing on crucial issues such as custodial rights, access to legal counsel, and the permissible limits of police interrogation. Demonstrating deep doctrinal understanding and strategic clarity, the RPNLU team consistently impressed the judges with their analytical precision, persuasive arguments, and confident courtroom presence.
The winning team comprised Ms. Srijal Mishra, Mr. Abhyuday Sharan, and Mr. Abhishek Raj, whose collective efforts reflected meticulous preparation and a nuanced grasp of constitutional principles and criminal procedural norms. Their success was shaped under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Sr. Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon and the dedicated mentorship of Dr. Sonika, Faculty Convener, Moot Court Society. The team’s composed responses to incisive judicial questions and their strict adherence to courtroom etiquette highlighted the robust academic training and mooting culture fostered at RPNLU since its inception.
Adding to the University’s pride, Ms. Srijal Mishra was conferred the Best Speaker Award, in recognition of her exceptional oratorical skills, clarity of thought, and exemplary courtroom demeanor.
Expressing her delight and pride in the team’s accomplishment, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Sr. Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon congratulated the students and remarked:
"I wholeheartedly congratulate our students for this remarkable achievement. Their excellence reflects the vibrant academic culture and strong mooting tradition that RPNLU has steadily cultivated. This accomplishment reaffirms our commitment to nurturing confident, skilled, and ethically grounded legal professionals. I am immensely proud of the team and deeply optimistic about the great heights they are poised to attain."
This national victory not only celebrates the individual brilliance of the participating students but also reinforces RPNLU Prayagraj’s broader vision of creating an intellectually stimulating and professionally enriching ecosystem—one where students are trained not merely to compete, but to excel with integrity, responsibility, and confidence on national platforms.
