CREL, Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, is elated to announce its 1st International Conference on Environmental Law. The conference will be held on 9th and 10th of September 2023 in hybrid mode. Titled "CREL International Conference on Human-Animal Conflict and Compensation," this two-day interdisciplinary event is organized in collaboration with CEERA, National Law School of India University, Bengaluru.

About the Event

The conference aims to provide a platform for scholars, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and green advocates from various disciplines to explore and discuss the complexities surrounding human-animal conflicts and the importance of compensation in mitigating the impact on both humans and animals. The event will delve into topics such as environmental protection, climate change, biodiversity conservation, wildlife policy, and legal frameworks.

Objectives of the Conference

The conference has the following key objectives:

  • Critically analyze existing legal frameworks addressing human-animal conflicts and compensation, identifying gaps, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Explore innovative legal approaches and mechanisms for preventing, mitigating, and resolving human-animal conflicts, considering the interests of both humans and animals.
  • Examine the role of compensation in legal frameworks and develop strategies for ensuring fair and adequate compensation for individuals and communities affected by human-animal conflicts.
  • Discuss international and comparative legal perspectives on human-animal conflicts and compensation, promoting cross-jurisdictional learning and knowledge exchange.
  • Identify legal barriers and obstacles that hinder effective conflict resolution and compensation mechanisms and propose strategies for overcoming these challenges.
  • Contribute to the development of comprehensive and harmonized legal policies that prioritize the well-being of both humans and animals while maintaining ecological balance, with a focus on sustainable development principles.
