Centre for Studies in International Trade and Investment Laws (CITIL) at Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, launched two edited volumes published by Thomson Reuters: “Decarbonisation, Trade and Climate Change: Developing Countries’ Perspective” and “Direct Selling Business in India: Issues, Challenges and Prospects.” The event took place on the DNLU campus in the presence of distinguished members of the judiciary and the university leadership.

The books were officially released by Hon’ble Shri Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Chief Justice, High Court of Madhya Pradesh (Chief Guest & Chief Patron), and Hon’ble Shri Justice Vivek Agarwal, Judge, High Court of Madhya Pradesh (Guest of Honour & Patron). They were joined by Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, Vice Chancellor, DNLU Jabalpur; Dr. Praveen Tripathi, Registrar; and Mr. Utkarsh K. Mishra, Director, CITIL.

In his address, Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva stressed the need for balancing environmental responsibility with economic growth in shaping global trade policies. Justice Vivek Agarwal underlined the importance of robust regulatory frameworks to support sustainable business models, particularly in emerging sectors like direct selling. Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha highlighted the role of academic research in guiding policy decisions on climate change and evolving commercial practices, while Registrar Dr. Praveen Tripathi emphasised the necessity of interdisciplinary collaboration.

The launch also featured two thematic panel discussions. The panel on “Decarbonisation, Trade and Climate Change: A Developing Countries’ Perspective” was chaired by DNLU faculty members Ms. Swati Singh Parmar, Dr. Shruti Nandwana, and Ms. Srishti Yadav, and moderated by Ms. Dishita Singh.
