Gujarat Judicial Services Exam (Civil Judge Exam) is conducted by the Gujarat High Court to recruit eligible candidates for the post of Civil Judge. This competitive examination is one of the most sought-after law career opportunities in Gujarat.
The exam is conducted in three stages:
- Preliminary Examination* – Online objective test with multiple-choice questions and negative marking.
- Main Examination – Descriptive written exam for shortlisted candidates.
- Viva-Voce (Interview) – Final round conducted face-to-face by the examiners.
Candidates must clear all three stages to secure a position as Civil Judge. Proper preparation, practice, and familiarity with the syllabus are crucial for success.
*Note: Candidates who have not studied Gujarati as a subject in SSC (10th) or HSC (12th) must also appear in a separate Gujarati Language Test along with the Preliminary Examination. This is a qualifying test (50 marks, 1½ hours, descriptive) covering essay writing, comprehension, synonyms, antonyms, grammar, letter writing, translation (Gujarati ↔ English), and short notes. A minimum of 40% marks is required to qualify. The marks obtained in this test are not counted in the final merit list, but clearing it is mandatory to become eligible for the Main Examination.
