Centre for Child Rights, National Law University and Judicial Academy (NLUJA), Assam invites original scholarly research articles, book reviews, statute reviews, case comments and other write-ups pertinent to issues of child rights for its 3rd edition of News Letter of Centre for Child Rights.

The research work may reflect on any topic of researcher’s choice relating to Child Rights, Child Protection, Legislations pertaining to Child, Case Comments, Analysis of various Flagship Programmes dealing with Children or any critical issue pertaining to children.

About The News Letter

News Letter’ of Centre for Child Rights, till its last edition, use to highlight the key activities undertaken by the Centre and write-ups on critical issues of child rights and child protection. From its 3rd edition of the newsletter, the Centre envisages to incorporate articles from writers across the globe who wished to share their views and opinions on issues of Children.

It is an endeavor of the Centre for Child Rights to become a beacon in the field of “Law Relating to Children” by encouraging the synthesis of knowledge and best practices cutting across academia and research fraternity. The News Letter welcomes submissions from academicians, judges, practitioners, civil society activists, research scholars and students across the globe.

The University has already obtained ISSN No for three of its journals and the process for obtaining ISSN No for the Centre for Child Rights News Letter.

Categories of Submission:

1. Research Articles: Between 750 to 2000 words, inclusive of footnotes. Articles in this category are expected to engage with the theme comprehensively, examine literature comprehensively and offer an innovative reassessment of the current understanding of that theme. Purely theoretical pieces are also welcome.
2. Notes/Comments: Between 750 to 1500 words, inclusive of footnotes. This section should include a thought-provoking and innovative piece consisting chiefly of personal opinions and analysis.
3. Case Comments: Between 1000 to 2000 words, inclusive of footnotes. This part should entail an analysis of contemporary Indian or International judicial pronouncements relevant to the themes. It must identify and examine the line of cases in which the decision in question came about, and comment on implications for the evolution of that branch of law.
4. Book Review: Word limit is between 1000 to 2000 for review of a book relevant to the themes. The review should identify the relevant arguments put forth by the author and present a comprehensive analysis of the same.

Guidelines for Submissions:

• Submissions should be in Times New Roman, 10 font size with 1.5 line spacing, justified text and 1-inch margins on all sides of an A4 sheet. (Page number at the bottom and center aligned).
• Footnotes should be in Times New Roman, 10 font size with 1.0 line spacing and text justified. Endnotes are not allowed.
• Graphics, Charts, Tables, and Diagrams should be numbered consecutively and included in the body of the work. Submission must be compatible with Microsoft Word.

Headings should follow the following standard:
1. LEVEL 1 HEADING: All Capitals & Bold
1.1. LEVEL 2 SUB-HEADING First Letter CAPITAL & BOLD;
1.1.1. Level 3 Sub-Sub-Heading: First Letter CAPITAL & BOLD & ITALIC; and
1.1.1.1. Level 4 Sub-Sub-Sub-Heading: Normal

How to submit:

1. Submissions must be emailed at ccr@nluassam.ac.in along with a covering letter addressed to Ms. Gitanjali Ghosh, Assistant Professor of Law (Editor-in-Chief), of the Editorial Board of Centre for Child Rights. The covering letter should include the author’s contact information and a short abstract (250-300 words) that outlines the main questions or themes addressed in the paper.
2. Authors shall be required to submit an author profile, post submission of 200 words before their contribution can be considered for publication.
3. The submission must be the original work of the author(s). Any form of plagiarism will lead to disqualification.
4. Submitted entries must not have been sent for consideration at any other place for presentation or publication.
5. Co-authorship is allowed. Maximum number of Co-author for a submission shall only be one.
6. Authors should provide their contact details, designation, and institutional affiliation in the covering letter for the submission.
7. Footnotes must conform to ‘Blue Book’ 19th Edition.
8. Copyright of all entries shall exclusively vest with Centre for Child Rights, NLUJA, Assam. The submission would imply that the author has assigned such rights to Centre for Child Rights, NLUJA, Assam.
9. All articles, book reviews, and case comments should be original and not published elsewhere. A certificate to that effect is required to be attached to the article.
