About Webinar On International Economic Law and Digital Trade
This webinar aims at a deeply intensive and richly informative analysis of the international commercial law rules relevant to digital trade and commerce. The core of this attempt is the multilateral rules under the World Trade Organization (WTO). It also attempts to dig deeper to discover how they currently regulate digital commerce and where recent technological advancement has challenged them.
The session also attempts to identify problematic issues and the available mechanisms in place to find solutions to them. Since legal adjustment under the WTO umbrella was lengthy, states have sought remedies elsewhere, primarily in a series of bilateral and regional preferential trade agreements (PTAs).
The event is expected to evaluate the process of adaptation of international trade law and address broader governance questions about the effectiveness of that adaptation and the appropriateness of the evolutionary path chosen. Its goal is to be dedicated to understanding how states can position themselves as regulatory entrepreneurs and ensure that digital commerce is not hindered, having adequately protected important public interests.
