Hutatma Rajguru Shikshan Prasarak Mandal’s SHM Law College is the well- known Educational Institution in Rajgurunagar, Khed. Since 2007. Our college is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University and also recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI), New Delhi.

About Writ Petition Drafting Competition

Hutatma Rajguru Shikshan Prasarak Mandal’s SHM Law College in collaboration with Ochre (India) as knowledge partners is organising the 1st edition of Writ Petition Drafting Competition to mark constitution day on 26/11/2021.

Eligibility

  • The competition shall be open for the students currently pursuing their bachelor’s degree in law i.e. 3-Year LL.B. course or 5-Year LL.B. course from any recognized university/college in India.
  • There is no limit on the number of entries from any college or university.

Team Composition

Individual Participation’ as well as ‘Participation in a team of two’ is allowed.

Submission Guidelines

Topic of Writ Petition:

The participants may submit a Writ Petition draft on the following situation.

Students need to identify the type of writ that can be filed in this matter.

Situation:

  • A State University released an advertisement for a vacancy of the post of Assistant Professor.
  • They specified the following qualifications for the same.
    • A First or High Second-Class Master’s Degree of an Indian University or an equivalent qualification of a Foreign University in the subject concerned and Qualified in National Eligibility Test, published work of a high standard, and/or;
    • A Research Degree of a Doctorate Standard or published work of a high Standard;
    • The knowledge of the regional language (State of Saurashtra).
  • As per the advertisement, preference will be given to candidates who have had experience in teaching and organisation of research and have also done advanced research work.
  • Many candidates applied for the post from across the country.
  • The university selected a candidate having the following qualifications.
  • 59% in Master’s degree, qualified in National eligibility test, 1 research paper in a non-recognised journal and Guajarati as the third language.
  • Another candidate wants to file a writ petition on quashing this appointment and approaches you as a lawyer. Advise him with the type and contents of the writ petition.

Submission Guidelines

  • Each Participating Team must submit ONE writ draft.
  • If a participant/team wishes to submit any annexure to support the compendium then it should be sent along with the memorial.
  • All drafts must be sent on the email address: shmlawevents@gmail.com till 25th November 2021 midnight with the Subject of the email as Writ Petition Draft- (Team Code ___)
  • Any submission made after the deadline will not be considered for evaluation.
  • Any submission with any name reference of the participant will be disqualified.
  • Plagiarism (more than 5%) shall amount to disqualification; therefore, the Participants must not submit plagiarised content.
  • In case the draft of two or more participants/teams is found “substantially similar” to each other, both the participants/teams shall be disqualified.

Formatting Guidelines

  • All the drafts must be submitted in both Microsoft Word Document format (.doc/.docx) and PDF Format (.pdf) (i.e., each participant is required to send 2 files- One in MS Word format and one in PDF format).
  • The body of the submissions must be in the font “Times New Roman” with font size 12, with line spacing of 1.5 and justified. (The Font size for the Headings can be formatted as per the choice of the participants)

  • After the successful registration, each participant or team shall be allotted a unique team code for further references.
