Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, marked Legal Awareness Week with an impactful initiative aimed at promoting child safety and legal consciousness. Vidhimitra – The Legal Aid Cell of DNLU – conducted a Nukkad Natak (street play) on the theme “Good Touch – Bad Touch” on 26 November 2025 at Drishti Badhit School, Jabalpur Bypass Road, Dhanvantri Nagar. The event was organized in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority and the District Legal Services Authority.

This awareness programme was made possible with the support of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Manoj Kumar Sinha, and the Registrar, Dr. Praveen Tripathi. The activity was carried out under the guidance of Faculty Advisors Dr. Jalaj Goantiya and Ms. Isha Paliwal, while Convenor Isha Mehrotra and Treasurer Jaya Bhuriya efficiently coordinated the efforts of the Cell.

Empowering Students and Spreading Awareness on Child Safety

The street play was performed by first-year students of DNLU with the objective of educating children with disabilities about identifying safe and unsafe touch. The performance adopted a simple yet powerful approach, ensuring that the children could easily relate to and understand the importance of personal safety and their rights.

The initiative aimed not only to inform but also to encourage children to speak up confidently and protect themselves in situations that may compromise their safety. By focusing on such essential issues, Vidhimitra – The Legal Aid Cell of DNLU continues to strengthen legal awareness among socially marginalized groups and strives toward the larger goal of accessible justice for all.

A Step Toward Social Responsibility and Legal Empowerment

This programme stands as a reflection of the students’ dedication to community welfare and legal literacy. It highlights DNLU’s continuous efforts to nurture socially responsible individuals who are committed to uplifting underrepresented sections of society.

Through such initiatives, DNLU reinforces its role in building an environment where every individual, especially children, is empowered with knowledge and protection.
